Juanito is Back! Look Out Sea World!
10 Aug 2016
Juan Hernandez, aka Juanito, returned to Shekou this week after spending four months as GM of McCawley's in Futian. He hasn't returned to the McCawley's family though. He has a new role as GM of one of Shenzhen's top Food and Beverage/Entertainment companies.
The Riverflow Group has hired Juanito as the new Manager of Shark Mediterranean Seafood Restaurant in Sea World.
Juanito has a long history in Shekou. Many of you may already know him from his role at Coyote's Mexican Cantina (Now Tequila Coyote's Mexican Food & Grill). He was the first cook hired when Coyote's opened in 2010 and was promoted to manager just 10 months later. Coyote's hired him directly from Mexico to help launch their new concept in Sea World. "It was funny. When I applied for the job in Mexico, I thought I was going to the U.S. I was a bit surprised when I found out I was coming to China," Juanito told me during our interview. "It was really hard in the beginning. There was nothing like Coyote's here at the time. We even had to make our own tortillas because we couldn't find any good ones."
Earlier this year, after six successful years at Coyote's, Juanito was promoted to GM of McCawley's in Futian. Coyote's is owned by the same group as McCawley's. "My home is Shekou and although I took the job in Futian, I always wanted to be in Shekou," Juanito told me while we were discussing his move back. He has been working in the Food & Beverage industry for over 18 years and has a great track record. He has always been promoted quickly so he knew he would have an opportunity soon. Within four months of the move to Futian, Riverflow Group presented him with that opportunity to move back to Shekou.
"I'm excited to be back in Sea World and have a lot of ideas I want to start bringing to Shark and Viva," says Juanito as he's showing me pictures of amazing dishes and snacks. "Not only food, but also promotions, events and maybe even live music. Welcome to come have a look or just stop by and say hi!"
Shark Mediterranean Seafood Restaurant is located in Sea World on the pedestrian strip next to the parking lot off Taizi Road. Club Viva is located on the 3rd Floor above The Terrace, with their elevator entrance just down from Shark.
Shark Mediterranean Seafood Restaurant and Club Viva are owned by The River Flow Investment Group, which also owns Pepper Club, Lavo, Azzurro and Komachi.
